Element #3 - Data to Knowledge
From the beginning of time until 2003, humans created an estimated 8 exabytes of data (exabyte = million terabytes). Today, humans create 12 exabytes of data every month. The explosion of data has created the era of Big Data and we are not impressed. The most basic detection tools for data is used in only about 10% of organizations and about 10% of those use it correctly. Until organizations learn and effectively use the basic data detection tools to help manage and improve, Big Data will just be more volume and of little use.
